Some area schools closed or delayed today
Students in Abilene and Wylie school districts will attend school today at regularly scheduled times, but some area schools are closed or will be delayed.
All Abilene colleges and universities will hold classes at regular times today as well.
Despite a small dusting of snow in and around areas of Abilene early this morning, local roads remained in fairly good condition compared to last week’s ice-crusted streets. However, the conditions warrant slow and careful driving.
Snyder and Sweetwater ISD websites had no indication of closings or delays today as of 6:30 a.m. The Brownwood ISD website indicated that school would start at 10 a.m. with buses running two hours late. However, the site reported that the school district would “continue to monitor weather” and confirm by 8 a.m.
The temperature in Abilene at 6:15 a.m. was 9 degrees with a wind-chill factor of -10.
CLOSED: Cisco, Coleman, Cross Plains, Ranger, Rising Star and Santa Anna.
DELAYED UNTIL 10 a.m.: Aspermont, Ballinger, Bangs, Blanket, Breckenridge, Brownwood, Cisco College, Clyde, Comanche, De Leon, Early, Howard Payne, Jim Ned, Throckmorton, TSTC-Brownwood and Winters.
